Calvin L. Skinner
In June 2000 Mr. Calvin L. Skinner founded Technology Uplift Inc. to provide free computers and computer services to communities. The goal of the organization is to increase computer literacy through mentoring and tutoring.
Mr. Skinner was born and reared in Norfolk, Virginia. He attended and graduated from the Norfolk Public School System. Mr. Skinner graduated Cum Laude in 1994 from Norfolk State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electronic Technology. While at Norfolk State Mr. Skinner, served as Senior Class President.
Mr. Skinner served in the United States Air Force Reserve for eight years as an aircraft mechanic. During Operation Desert Shield/Storm, he was called to active duty status and was stationed at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. He received an Honorable Discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1993.
In 1994 Mr. Skinner relocated to Atlanta, Georgia and enrolled in Southern Polytechnic State University in Marietta, Georgia for graduate studies. While working full-time, he attended night and weekend classes. In four years he received two masters degrees. The first graduate degree was received in Computer Science in 1996 and the second graduate degree in Management Technology in 1998.
